Somewhere along the drive, my glove compartment became the proud owner of a palm-sized, grass-colored Gideon’s Bible. I don’t know that I’ve ever opened it before last Tuesday. When I did, I flipped to the front and read these wonderful words:

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character. Here Paradise is retored, Heaven opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.
